My thoughts on Joleon Lescott leaving Everton for Manchester City. I am a Manchester United fan so the actions of the rivals are quite important because of the upcoming derbys.

Could this be the end of Joleon Lescotts time at Everton?

After their defeat at Burnley over the weekend, I’m not surprised he wants to move to Man City. Everton are now set to lose what I would say is their best centre-back, what with Jagielka injured.

Although I think it’s fair to say that Evertons board have done well. Citys initial offers of £15m and £18m were turned down after Moyes was adamant that Lescott would not leave. The board have somehow managed to increase the fee to a nice £24m.

Now, Man City. So far they have signed Toure, Adebayor and Barry (If memory serves me correct!). Its safe to say these players, although brilliant, are not in the same league as some of the players that Man City were initially after. For example, Kaka, Ronaldo and Eto’o. So what has made Man City lower their expectations and sign more, less significant names? I thought money was everything now in the world of football. Maybe I was wrong.

Looking over their current performances however, City seem to be doing quite well, winning their first 2 Premier League games in which Adebayor scored in both. A better performance so it seems than their pre-season friendlies in which they only managed 1 win (against Celtic), a draw (with Barnsley) and 4 losses.

The premier league looks to be a good one this year. Come on United.
